LEX LIVE 3: Full schedule revealed

Tag team matches. Battle royales. FU flip-outs. Nope, this isn’t a promo for an upcoming WWE wrestling event. This is Lex Live 3, baby.

Lex Veldhuis has today revealed the full poker schedule for Lex Live 3, which runs from April 17-26, 2020 at Aspers Casino in London. The announcement comes hot on the heels of Veldhuis’ two nominations at the 2019 Global Poker Awards (Streamer of the Year, People’s Choice for Poker Personality of the Year).

The team behind Lex Live–which includes John Scanlon and the poker staff over at Aspers Casino–have been hard at work putting the schedule together for the community event’s third instalment.

“John has decades of experience and is so good at putting together a schedule,” Veldhuis told us last month. “I go on his advice for things that work and what doesn’t, and I listen to my community to input what they would like, and the combination of those two gives you something that improves on last time.”

That hard work shows in the schedule, as there are plenty of new additions and adjustments from October’s Lex Live 2 itinerary. However, the £230 Main Event remains just that, and with five starting flights, it’s sure to be huge.

Flight 1 – Sat 18th April 18:00
Flight 2 – Thu 23rd April 18:00
Flight 3 – Fri 24th April 18:00
Flight 4 – Sat 25th April 14:00
Flight 5 Turbo – Sat 25th April 19:00
Final Day – Sun 26th April 13:00

What’s new?

New tournament variations have been added to the Lex Live 3 schedule, the most exciting of which is arguably the Tag Team Match (Tuesday 21 April, 2pm). Players pair up into tag teams and are able to tag each other in and out of the tournament throughout.

There’s a twist, of course. As the event hopes to find an iconic duo in Veldhuis’s community, any team which comes dressed up in fancy dress as a famous, iconic duo will take part in a last longer for two £230 Main Event buy-ins (one for each player).

So team up, get your thinking caps on, and then take them off as you’ve got a fancy dress contest to win.

Another new addition is the Sit&Go Battle Royal. While community sit&gos are commonplace at Lex Live events, this one will be a bit different.

“As you guys love the community sit&gos, we have something special planned in the Battle Royle,” Veldhuis tells us. “Details to follow, but I can guarantee you’ll love it.”

Then there’s the schedule itself. At Lex Live 2, community tournaments would kick off at 11am, but now the starting times have been pushed to later in the afternoons.

“Last time we thought that organising side events early (11am) would be nice as it meant there would be no other tournaments going on and we could be as loud as we want,” Veldhuis said. “But I think 11am was a little too early, as when people busted them they would find themselves at 1pm wondering what they were going to do for the rest of the day. There was so much hype, but then it died down and we’d have to build it back up for the evenings. This time events will start later.”

Old favourites

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and there certainly ain’t nothing broke about the Lex Live £40 FU Flip-out.

This time the fan favourite will be bigger than ever. In fact, it’s the last event on the schedule (Sunday 26 April, 7pm), so it’ll bring everyone together for one last shindig.

If you’re not sure how an FU Flip-out works, check out this article from Lex Live 1. In a nutshell, the tournament runs as a regular NLHE freezeout, but at the start of each level each player at the table puts three big blinds into the middle, and a hand is then dealt out with cards-up. Whoever wins the hand scoops the pot. As you can imagine, those flips get pretty expensive at the blinds increase.

If you need some strategy advice, ask Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg. He took this one down in October, much to Veldhuis’ chagrin.

Spraggy won. Lex hated to see it.

Other side events returning include the popular £100 Big Bounty (Sunday 19 April, 3pm), a £60 6+ event (Sunday 19 April, 8pm), a £50 8-Game tournament (Monday 20 April, 3pm), and a £50 PLO event (Monday 20 April, 6pm).

For all of you high rollers out there, the two-day £750 High Roller will run from Wednesday 22 April (kicking off at 2pm) and will finish the following day.

Party time

You’ll also see some fun events on the schedule which have nothing to do with sitting at a poker table.

On Monday 20 April the Sky Bar and Terrace at Aspers Casino will play host to the Players Party, an open-bar event where you can make new friends and catch up with old ones.

Then there’s the beer pong/ping pong party across the road at The Bat and Ball (inside Westfield Stratford, opposite the casino). This was a lot of fun back in October (read about that event here) and similar shenanigans will no doubt ensue once again.

We’ll have more announcements of fun activities as and when. Stay tuned.

So there you have it. The dates are out there, and there’s nothing left for you to do but book your trip to Lex Live 3.

Oh, and figure out your Tag Team fancy dress, of course.
